Every year I look forward to going hunting with my dad! It's our bonding time together! Due to my school schedule and my limited time we went Wednesday October 21 after I got out of class. We got up there around 4:30pm, hopped on the 4-wheeler and started hunting! it was getting close to dark and we still hadn't seen any buck! We pulled up close to the road and hung out there for a min. . . All of a sudden I could hear like a meowing sound, my dad turned and whispered to me asking if I could hear that noise. I asked him what it was and he said a fawn calling for his mom, next thing we know we see a doe walking about 75 yards in front of us, then its fawn, then another doe, I thought that was so cool that they were so close to us! In my head I was thinking "that would be way cool to see a buck walking right behind them"..... Next thing I know I see some more movement, right when I went to say something to my dad he says "Wendy there's a buck!" So now we are holding really still and being extra quite. We slip off the wheeler and slowly start grabbing for the gun and bullets! I kneel down and rest the gun on the wheeler, my dad tells me to shoot it when ready! Well let me tell you it was freezing and I was shaking! I had the hardest time finding it! (HAHA which is always my problem), once I finally find it I pull the trigger! OOPS I MISSED!! HAHA by now i'm shaking like crazy and I come to realize I have BUCK FEVER!! What the heck! I never get scared to shoot a deer! So now I have to hurry because the buck is on the move! I shoot again! YES I got it! only one problem! I hit its leg!! HAHA so by now he's gone up the hill, so dad and I grab what we need and we're on the move! Now its a race against the dark and losing the deer over the mountain! We have to hike up a mountain (boy am I out of shape, my old man was smoking me), anyways we see it again, so my dad pulls out the shootin' sticks, I kneel down, have him in my target and pull the trigger!! YAY HE WENT RIGHT DOWN!!!! What a fun night! We saw 14 doe, a golden eagle, bald eagle, cyote, and a badger! Thanks dad for the good time I LOVE YOU!!
